About Us

Our History

Advanced Heavy Vehicle Driver Training Centre (AHVDTC) was established in 2006 as the natural evolution of our existing operations at Australia Wide Forklift Training Centre (AWFTC), which commenced operations in 1999 providing High-Risk Work licences for warehousing and construction equipment.

Recognising the critical need for professional, comprehensive heavy vehicle driver training in Victoria, we expanded into truck and bus licence training, creating a specialised division dedicated to developing skilled, safety-conscious professional drivers. Our programs encompass the full range of heavy vehicle categories, from Light Rigid (MR) through to Multi-Combination (MC) licences.

Located at our purpose-built Tullamarine facility, we’ve established ourselves as Victoria’s premier heavy vehicle training provider. Our comprehensive approach combines classroom theory with extensive practical driving experience across various road conditions and scenarios. We are fully accredited by VicRoads and WorkSafe Victoria and operate as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), ensuring all our training meets the highest industry standards and provides you with nationally recognised Statements of Attainment alongside your licence.

Over nearly two decades, we’ve helped thousands of drivers transition into professional driving careers, supported countless businesses in upskilling their teams, and played a vital role in improving road safety standards across Victoria’s transport industry.

A New Chapter with Stay Upright

In September 2025, AHVDTC and AWFTC proudly joined the Stay Upright family, marking an exciting new phase in our journey. Stay Upright Pty Ltd, established in 1981, is Australia’s largest motorcycle training provider with operations across Queensland, NSW, Victoria, ACT and Tasmania. With over 44 years of experience and more than 200 staff delivering training across 29 locations, Stay Upright trains over 60,000 riders annually.

This strategic partnership represents more than just an acquisition – it’s the union of two organisations that share an unwavering commitment to road safety and training excellence. Together, we create Australia’s most comprehensive transport safety training network, covering everything from motorcycles to multi-combination vehicles.

Our Enhanced Future As part of the Stay Upright family, we’re excited to leverage enhanced resources, expanded course offerings, and the operational excellence that comes with joining Australia’s most respected name in safety training. This partnership allows us to continue delivering the personalised, practical training AHVDTC is known for, whilst accessing the innovation, systems, and national reach that Stay Upright brings to every aspect of safety education.

Our experienced instructors continue to provide the same high-quality, hands-on training that has built our reputation, now supported by the proven methodologies and continuous improvement culture that has made Stay Upright the industry leader for over four decades.

Whether you’re starting your professional driving career, upgrading your licence category, or seeking to enhance your driving skills, our comprehensive programs ensure you develop not just the technical competencies required for legal compliance, but the advanced safety awareness and defensive driving techniques that define truly professional drivers.
